Plant species have evolved with many different ways to annoy us. Some strategies appear to have come about as protection mechanisms from grazing animals. Other strategies appear to be simply species survival through massive reproduction.

For gardeners, the prickly ones tend to be the most annoying. But to native plant enthusiasts the arrival of invasive exotics is enough to call out the troops.
