Famous gardens of the world are often found adjacent to the estates of the magnates.  Fortunately for us these pleasure gardens are often open to the public.

Typically laid out in the André Le Nôtre (1613-1700) formal style these gardens have geometrically crisscrossing paths radiating from a central axis with spectacular displays of exotics carefully planned to ensure blossoms of complementary colors.  Some more recent famous gardens carry the signature of William Kent (1684-1748) whose style includes the removal of high walls surrounding the perimeter and replacing them with "haha's"; the overall effect of these gardens is to appear as natural extensions of the surrounding countryside.

If you're looking for software to organize, label, sort, and publish your own collection of plants and pictures, take a look at   The Compleat Botanica.
