Eschscholzia californica has traditionally been used in many herbal remedies including: as a dental anesthetic, as an antispasmodic, as a sedative and as an analgesic. (More are listed in the medicinal properties section.) Herbal remedies are only prepared from the aerial parts. This is a light producer of pollen but should cause problems to only the most sensitive hay fever sufferers. This plant's 8 month extended hay fever season continues from February through September.
